Roads and Buildings (R&B) Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy said that the government was prioritising modern waste management initiatives such as Material Recovery Facilities, biogas plants, waste-to-energy projects, and fecal sludge treatment plants (FSTPs) at Owk in Banagnapalle constituency.

Participating in the ‘Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra’ programme held at Owk gram panchayat on Saturday, he said that effective waste management helps protect both environment and public health. The Minister said that the primary objective of the programme was to create clean villages, green surroundings, and a healthy living environment. He highlighted that cleanliness was not merely a government initiative, as it succeeded only through the active participation of the public.

On the occasion, the Minister took also part in a cleanliness awareness rally conducted along the main streets of Owk. He participated in the cleanliness drive by joining sanitation workers to clean the streets. He administered a cleanliness pledge to the public and emphasised that maintaining clean surroundings was everyone’s responsibility.

“Let us grow trees, prevent pollution and build a clean environment,” the Minister said. He urged the public to fulfil their responsibility in keeping their homes, streets, and villages clean.

The Minister directed the officials, public representatives, sanitation staff, and the public to work in coordination to make Owk a model town in terms of cleanliness, greenery, and environmental conservation.
