Gowliguda Gurudwara marks 100 years with mass congregation in Hyderabad

The historic Central Gurudwara Sahib in Gowliguda, Hyderabad, marked its centenary with a mass religious congregation at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally, on Sunday, September 20, with thousands of Sikh devotees and people from different communities attending the event.
Founded in 1926, the Gurudwara has completed 100 years of religious, social and community service in Hyderabad. The centenary celebrations were organised by the Prabhandak Committee of Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda in association with Sikh Gurudwaras across Telangana. The ‘Vishaal Diwan’, or mass religious congregation, featured prayers before Guru Granth Sahib, Gurbani Kirtans and religious discourses.
Among those who attended were Sant Baba Kulwant Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib, Nanded, Maharashtra; Sant Baba Balwinder Singh Ji of Hazur Sahib; and Harmeet Singh Kalka, president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
The discourses focused on equality, brotherhood, peace, national integration and communal harmony. “The historic centenary celebrations are a celebration of faith, service and unity, bringing the entire community together,” said S. Trilok Singh, president of the Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda Prabhandak Committee. The congregation concluded with the serving of ‘Guru-Ka-Langar’, the traditional free community kitchen.
