TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Greece made history by defeating Germany 1-0 in UEFA Nations League Group A2 match at the WWK Arena in Germany on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026.

This marked Greece's first-ever victory over Germany in the history of meetings between the two teams.

Dimitrios Kourbelis secured the win for Greece with a second-half goal. Germany, managed by Jurgen Klopp, failed to find an equalizer despite dominating the match.

Greece remained at the top of the group with six points, while Germany sat in third place, having failed to win either of their two matches, according to the UEFA website. Joshua Kimmich, Bambase Conte, Karim Adeyemi, and Younes Ebnoutalib spearheaded the hosts' attack.

Greece threatened through Konstantinos Karetsas in the 6th minute, even as Germany controlled the majority of possession.

Adeyemi nearly put Germany ahead in the 27th minute. After receiving a short corner, the Barcelona player beat Kostas Tsimikas before unleashing a powerful shot from outside the penalty area.
