Gurugram house owner manhandles official, threatens death as illegal structure razed
A high-voltage drama unfolded in Gurugram during a demolition drive when a house owner created a ruckus and tried to stop the action. The District Town Planner (DTP) and his team were manhandled, while the official was also threatened with death.
The incident took place during a demolition drive being carried out in the licensed colony following Supreme Court directions. Police personnel present at the spot intervened and brought the situation under control. Despite strong opposition, the demolition team proceeded with the action and demolished illegal constructions.
According to the information available, the house owner pushed and manhandled the DTP and members of his team when they reached the area to demolish illegal construction.
The DTP was also threatened with death in full public view. Police personnel at the spot immediately stepped in and controlled the situation, following which the demolition operation continued amid protests.
The demolition drive is being conducted in Sushant Lok Phase 1 in accordance with Supreme Court directions concerning licensed colonies.
Officials of the Town and Country Planning Department (DTCP) are taking action against illegal constructions and commercial activities carried out in violation of rules in such colonies.
DTCP officials have said that strict legal action, including registration of FIRs, is being taken against those who obstruct government work or threaten officials.
