Gurugram woman's 3-point clarification as 'creepy' guard video sparks backlash
Priyanka Giri, the Gurugram-based woman who spoke about how her building’s security guard offered to bring her food for free, has posted a three-point clarification after the clip triggered backlash online.
The controversy began after Priyanka shared an Instagram video about her security guard. She said that after she fired her cook and told the guard about it, he brought food for her and her roommate, saying his wife had cooked it. He also refused to take money for the food. Priyanka had captioned the video, “Creepy or Caring?”
The video was later shared on X with a caption accusing her of being ungrateful towards the security guard’s kindness. It soon led to a divided reaction, with some users saying the guard may simply have been trying to help his wife find work, while others understood why Priyanka was cautious about accepting food regularly from someone who knew where she lived.
In her clarification video, Priyanka said the X post had reached a much larger audience and that people were judging her without knowing the complete context.
“You let 1 million people see my face and misunderstand the whole story, without my permission btw.”
She also made it clear that she had appreciated the guard’s initial gesture and had thanked him. “Firstly, bhaiya ko maine thanks bola tha” (Firstly, I did thank him).
According to Priyanka, the situation began bothering her more after she learnt that the guard was prepared to bring food for them every day and had specifically told them not to worry about paying for it.
Priyanka said she is new to the NCR region and had already been advised to be careful because she tends to trust people easily.
She said her concern came from the fact that the guard knew where she lived, where she worked and details about her social circle, while she did not know what his intentions were.

“Agar kuch hoga, toh the same people who are commenting will later say, ‘inka dimaag nahi tha? (If something happens, the same people commenting now will later ask, ‘Didn’t she have any sense?),” she said.
Priyanka said she had no issue with people criticising her, but objected to the original story being presented without context.
Her clarification came as the conversation around the video shifted from whether the guard’s gesture was “Creepy or Caring” to the larger question Priyanka says prompted her post in the first place: how cautious should women be when someone around them knows personal details about their lives?- Ends
