The Telangana High Court, on Friday, issued notices to officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over a writ petition filed by a 26-year-old businessman, Mangalampalli Naga Sai Manikanta, who alleged that the ED officials illegally detained and subjected him to torture at their office at Shakar Bhavan on October 26.
He stated in his petition that the ED officials compelled him to sign a paper at the instigation of a civilian and sought direction to the officials not to initiate any action against him based on that statement. The petitioner also made police officials as respondents in his writ petition, which was adjourned to November 27 by Justice E.V. Venugopal of the HC.
Justice G.M. Mohiuddin of the HC, on Friday, directed the officials of HYDRAA and Revenue Department to file counter affidavits in a batch of writ petitions filed by Defence Housing Cooperative Society Limited, questioning the alleged demolition of some structures on the society premises and construction of a dumping yard on 6,039 square yards by the GHMC.
While hearing contentions of the counsels of the society and the government, the judge sought to know why the GHMC authorities accorded permission to layouts and then indulged in demolition of the structures they had permitted.
The judge directed the Revenue and GHMC authorities to file their respective responses within three weeks.
