Actor Gayathri Suresh revisited one of the most difficult periods of her life during her stint on Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8. In a task on the Mohanlal-hosted reality show, Gayathri spoke about a “situationship” she was involved in around 2021, saying the experience left her deeply traumatised. She recalled being asked if she had AIDS, later learning that the man was involved with another woman and being left alone after a car accident that became a major controversy that year.

The revelation came shortly before Gayathri's exit from the show. She was among eight contestants eliminated during a mass eviction, ending an unusual Bigg Boss journey that had already seen her leave the house on Day 2 and return just a week later on Day 9.‘I thought it was a relationship’

As part of the task, Bigg Boss asked Gayathri what she would tell the person who had caused her the most pain if she ever got the chance to speak to him again. Gayathri went back to a chapter from 2021, when she was involved with a man whom she initially believed was her partner. With hindsight, however, she said she now viewed the equation differently.

“Many people have hurt me in my life. But what hurt me the most, or rather what traumatised me the most, happened when I was embroiled in a controversy in 2021. At that time, I was in a situationship. I thought it was a relationship, but looking back now, I think it was just a situationship,” she recalled.

She said she was usually quick to identify warning signs in people but still gave them several opportunities before cutting them out of her life.

“I’m someone who notices everyone’s red flags quickly. Yet, I give people three chances, and then they’re out of my life. In the first week of our ‘relationship,’ he asked me if I had AIDS. At that moment, I cut him off,” she said.

Despite that early warning sign, Gayathri said she eventually resumed contact with him. She questioned whether she had been too quick to judge him and continued to give the relationship another chance.‘He was in a relationship with someone else’

Things took another turn when Gayathri discovered that the man was already involved with another woman. “Later, I found out that he was in a relationship with someone else. While I am based in Thrissur, he lives in Ernakulam, and there, he was in a relationship with another girl,” she said.

Looking back at that period, Gayathri admitted that she was struggling and had her own flaws. At the same time, she maintained that she never intended to deliberately hurt anyone and believed she was fundamentally a good-hearted person.

She said the man subsequently stopped responding to her and began avoiding her. Gayathri eventually pushed to meet him, and the two later travelled together in a car. Their meeting coincided with the events surrounding the controversial accident in 2021.The 2021 accident

In October 2021, Gayathri was involved in a car accident while travelling with a male friend who was behind the wheel. The vehicle reportedly hit another car before the pair allegedly left the spot without stopping. The occupants of the other vehicle followed them and eventually forced the car to stop. A crowd gathered as the confrontation unfolded, and videos from the incident subsequently spread across social media.

During the Bigg Boss task, Gayathri recalled what happened after the incident. She said the man was taken to a police station, but what followed proved more painful for her than the accident itself.

“The police came and took him to the station following the accident. After coming back, he left me alone in a cafe and went to see his [other] girlfriend. That was the most traumatising thing for me,” she said.

Gayathri said the experience ultimately changed the way she looked at herself and relationships. Rather than harbouring anger towards the man, she said she would thank him if their paths crossed again.

“So if I were to see him again, I would say, ‘Thank you so much.’ I can clearly imagine what his girlfriend went through because it was a narcissistic relationship and there was narcissistic abuse. So if I see him now, I’d say, ‘Thank you so much for going after someone else.’ Otherwise, I would have had to suffer in that relationship. I grew because of that. I decided then that I would get better and grow,” she said.

For Gayathri, the painful experience eventually became a turning point. She said being out of that relationship gave her the space to work on herself and move forward.Gayathri Suresh’s unusual Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 journey

Gayathri's exit from Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8 came during a mass eviction that saw eight contestants leave the competition. Jaseela Parveen, Sumesh Chandran, Sreelakshmi Arackal, Loletta, Rakesh, RJ Anjali and Mridula were also eliminated.

Anjali and Mridula, however, were shifted to a secret room rather than being completely removed from the game.

The show subsequently introduced four wildcard contestants — Nilina Elizabeth Joseph, Vedangi Cherukattu, Vipin Das Nair and Suvarna Pulthukkiyil — adding another layer to the competition.- EndsALSO READ | Malayalam actress Gayathri Suresh: I got text messages asking me to compromise
