A hi-tech paddy seed warehouse with a storage capacity of 100 tonnes will be opened at the State Seed Farm, Alathur, Palakkad, on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) as part of the Keralam government’s 100-day programme.
Agriculture Minister T. Siddique will inaugurate the facility built at a cost of ₹75 lakh under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. It will store Uma (MO16) paddy seeds in the Foundation 2 (F2) category.
The programme will also include the launch of GIS mapping of paddy fields in seven districts on the Kathir portal and a block-level farmers’ meet under the Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati.
The GIS mapping, carried out with the Kerala State Land Use Board at a cost of ₹49 lakh, will provide agricultural land information through the Kathir platform.
Other works completed at the farm include a polyhouse, rain shelter, mist chamber, machinery yard, compound wall and canal renovation, at a cost of ₹85.56 lakh.
SC/ST and Backward Classes Welfare Minister K.A. Thulasi will inaugurate the GIS mapping. K. Radhakrishnan, MP, will inaugurate the farmers’ meet.
