The Tirthahalli taluk administration has declared a holiday on September 19 for a few local education institutions citing a visit by Karnataka’s Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and his cabinet colleagues to the town for a public discussion on the K. Kasturirangan report on the Western Ghats.

The tahsildar’s official memo announced that the Government Pre-university College, U.R. Ananthamurthy High School, and the Government First-grade College in Tirthahalli will remain closed on September 19. This decision was taken to ensure the safety of children, given the anticipated heavy traffic in the town.

As per the CM’s tour plan, he will depart Mangaluru by helicopter at 9.30 a.m. on September 19 and arrive at the helipad at the Government First Grade College in Tirthahalli at 10 a.m. There, he will meet people, elected representatives, and representatives of various organisations regarding the K. Kasturirangan report.

After the meeting, he will leave for Balehonnur in N.R. Pura taluk of Chikkamagaluru district at 12.30 p.m. At Balehonnur, he will listen to the views and grievances of people on the K. Kasturirangan report. He is expected to leave for Bengaluru by 4 p.m.

The CM will be accompanied by Deputy CM G. Parameshwara, Forest Minister Ramalinga Reddy, and Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa.
