Honda Cars India is set to launch the facelifted Elevate SUV in India today, October 6. The updated mid-size SUV will get a revised exterior design, a more feature-rich cabin and several equipment upgrades, while retaining its existing petrol powertrain. India is the first market globally to receive the updated Elevate.
Pre-launch bookings for the new Elevate are already open across Honda dealerships in the country for Rs 21,000. The facelift comes as Honda looks to strengthen the SUV's position in an increasingly competitive mid-size SUV segment.advertisementโฎโฏ Read Full StoryHonda Elevate facelift priceHonda is expected to announce the variant-wise prices of the updated Elevate at the launch today. The outgoing model was priced from around Rs 11.8 lakh onwards, while the facelift is expected to command a premium owing to its additional features and styling changes.
The facelift brings a series of styling changes to the Elevate, although the overall shape and proportions of the SUV remain familiar.
The biggest change is at the front, where the Elevate gets new segmented LED daytime running lights integrated into the grille. The Honda logo has also been repositioned from the grille to the bonnet, giving the SUV a more distinctive appearance.
The front grille has been redesigned, while the bumper is expected to receive subtle revisions. The SUV also gets new alloy wheel designs, although the existing LED headlamp setup appears to be carried over.
At the rear, Honda has added a connected lightbar between the tail-lamps. The changes give the Elevate a more contemporary appearance without altering its basic design or proportions.
Overall, the facelift is an evolution of the existing Elevate rather than a comprehensive redesign.Honda Elevate facelift: Interior and features
The cabin receives a more substantial equipment upgrade. Honda has focused on adding features that are increasingly common among rivals in the mid-size SUV segment.
One of the key additions is a factory-fitted 360-degree camera, replacing the dealer-level accessory solution available on the outgoing SUV. The facelift is also expected to get ventilated front seats, another feature that was previously available only through accessories.
Other expected additions include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, updated cabin trim, ambient lighting, a powered co-driver's seat, rear sunblinds and dual-zone climate control. The cabin also gets a lighter colour theme, along with ambient lighting across the dashboard and door pads.
Honda is expected to reveal the complete variant-wise equipment list alongside the prices.Honda Elevate facelift: Engine and gearbox
The mechanical package remains unchanged.
The Elevate continues with Honda's 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces around 121hp and 145Nm. The engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.
Honda's strong-hybrid powertrain, currently offered with the City, has not been confirmed for the Elevate facelift. The updated SUV therefore continues with its naturally aspirated petrol engine for now.Honda Elevate facelift: Safety
The Elevate already comes with Honda Sensing ADAS technology, including features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and collision mitigation braking. The facelift adds the 360-degree camera to improve visibility during parking and low-speed manoeuvres.Honda Elevate facelift: Rivals
The updated Honda Elevate will continue to compete in India's crowded mid-size SUV segment. Its rivals include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Tata Sierra.
With the facelift, Honda has primarily focused on addressing the Elevate's equipment deficit while retaining its naturally aspirated petrol engine, manual and CVT gearbox options, and familiar SUV package.
