Police arrested one person on Sunday in connection with a theft case after he allegedly stole gold and silver ornaments worth about ₹40 lakh, the NTR district police said.
The accused, H. Vinod Kumar, who recently completed engineering, was addicted to vices and committed theft in a locked house in Veterinary Colony, under Machavaram police station limits, on September 4, said East Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Krishna Kanth Patil.
Following a complaint, police verified the CCTV footage and swooped on Vinod Kumar, who confessed to the crime, the DCP said at a press conference in Vijayawada on Sunday.
Police recovered gold jewellery weighing about 350 grams and 230 grams of silver ornaments, Mr. Krishna Kanth said.
