Housewife arrested for alleged killing of co-wife in Bauchi - The Guardian Nigeria News

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old housewife, Hauwa’u Haruna, for allegedly hitting her co-wife, Jamila Adamu, 43, with a pestle, resulting in her death at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate, Bauchi metropolis.

The incident was reported on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the C-Division Police Station, Bauchi, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib.   Habib said preliminary investigations indicated that a domestic incident occurred between the two co-wives, who lived in the same household with their husband.   “Our preliminary investigation revealed that the second wife, one Hauwa’u Haruna, 33 years old, allegedly acting under hallucinations, armed herself with a pestle and struck the first wife, one Jamila Adamu, 43 years old, on the forehead. Consequently, the victim fell unconscious,” he said.   The police spokesperson said officers documented the scene before the victim was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she was certified dead.   “Her corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” he added.   Habib said the suspect had been arrested, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Sani-Omolori, had directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
