In a video statement, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Seri claimed that they were not responsible for the drone attack thwarted near Mecca on September 15.
Seri stated that 732 airstrikes had been launched against Yemen so far from the Arab Coalition’s Hamis Mushait and Taif air bases, and he blamed Saudi Arabia for these attacks. Seri reported that in response to these airstrikes, they had targeted certain “sensitive targets” in Riyadh and Aramco facilities in the Yanbu region using ballistic missiles and drones.
Claiming that fires broke out at the targeted locations following the attacks, Seri maintained that they “did not target civilian sites” in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabian authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the Houthi attacks. The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen had accused Saudi Arabia of sending drones to Sana’a and threatened to retaliate.
Eyewitnesses reported that a fire broke out near King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh around noon today and that smoke was rising from the area. Saudi Arabian authorities had not issued a statement regarding the fire.
