How a former actress turned private eye ended up in the crosshairs of the Project South police corruption probe - Toronto Star

Newly released court records detail an alleged plot to place a tracker on the car of a woman who had accused her ex of domestic violence.

Jennifer Jasey was arrested in Project South and faces charges related to her alleged tracking of a woman. 

It took less than five minutes to install the GPS tracker.

Surveillance footage from a drizzly January night earlier this year reportedly captured the scene as former actress turned private investigator Jennifer Jasey allegedly snuck into a parking garage, found the car she was after, had the device stuck on its undercarriage and slipped back into the elevator.

In the days that followed, Jasey is alleged to have used the tracker to follow the car’s owner, a woman in the process of divorcing an ex-husband she accused of domestic abuse, in an effort to find out where she lived and whether she had a boyfriend.

But Jasey, whose acting credits included appearances on the X-Files and the L Word, had no idea she was also being watched — by York Regional Police.

Investigators arrested Jasey a few weeks later as part of Project South, a sprawling probe into alleged police corruption. They also arrested a Toronto police sergeant, Carl Grellette, a “close associate” of Jasey who they allege helped her track the woman.

Jasey is accused of harassing the woman she was following, among other charges. Jasey declined to comment through a lawyer. A lawyer for Grellette did not respond to questions from the Star.
