For decades, Dolly Parton used her fame and fortune to help put millions of books into the hands of children all around the world, through her Imagination Library. 

In Mount Druitt, that legacy is being felt by hundreds of families, including many from Western Sydney where Tongan literacy advocate and PhD candidate Sala Walter has seen first-hand what access to books can mean for a child. 

She reflects on the value of literacy in an age of AI and information overload and why learning to question and engage critically with what we read and see matters more than ever.
