Florida researchers created robotic rabbits to attract invasive Burmese pythons in the Everglades. These decoys imitate real prey by moving and generating heat, aiding in detection. The project employs remote monitoring to facilitate python removal by the South Florida Water Management District. Traditional methods relied on live rabbits, which posed logistics challenges, making robotic alternatives more practical. Current testing continues with future plans to add scent to enhance effectiveness.
