Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell opened the final stretch of the season by setting a WNBA record.
During a 103-85 road win against the Toronto Tempo on Friday, Sept. 18, Mitchell broke the single-season scoring record (1,021 points in 38 games) set by Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson in 2024.Β
Mitchell will try to add to her 1,034 points this season against the Washington Mystics on Sunday, Sept. 20 (4 p.m., NBA TV). Aliyah Boston is averaging 16.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals for the Fever.
The two teams are jockeying for playoff seeding with Fever currently in the No. 5 spot, two games up on the No. 8-seeded Mystics.
Shakira Austin is averaging 16.9 points and 9.4 rebounds for Washington. Kiki Iriafen is adding 15.4 points and 9.5 rebounds.
The teams meet for the third time this season. The Fever won 78-76 in the last matchup on June 8.Β
The Fever and Mystics play at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 20, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
