Hypocrite? Daniel Cormier reacts to own post-loss footage after Gable Steveson criticism

Daniel Cormier has been labeled a hypocrite in the aftermath of his stern criticism of Gable Steveson at UFC 331. But he has a defense of himself.

UFC Hall of Famer and color commentator Cormier was not happy after Steveson (4-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) quickly left the cage this past Saturday following his stunning 12-second knockout loss at the hand of historic underdog Sean Sharaf (5-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC). He called the Olympic gold medalist "an ungrateful loser" for not showing respect to his opponent in comments that resonates across the MMA community.

Steveson's mentor and coach Jon Jones came to his defense on Monday and said it was his call to usher Steveson backstage as quickly as possible, and shortly after the online detectives had some receipts for Cormier.

Rehashed footage from the aftermath of Cormier's knockout loss to Jones at UFC 214, which was later overturned to a no contest due to a failed drug test by "Bones," showed him angrily walking away from the decision result moment all those years ago. He didn't leave the cage, however, and ultimately gave an emotional post-fight interview to Joe Rogan where he openly wept.

Steveson has still not given comment on his first MMA loss. His manager expressed hopefulness for a "legendary" future in the wake of the event, as did his coach Jones.
