Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has declared that he delivered on every promise made to the people during the 2022 electioneering campaign. Oyebanji added that his administration also recorded excellent budget performance across its four-year tenure. He made the declaration on Thursday evening at Aramoko Ekiti during a Town Hall Meeting with stakeholders from Ekiti Central Senatorial District, as part of preparations for the 2027 Budget. The event was part of a series of consultative meetings preceding the annual budget preparation cycle. According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, the governor said his administration had neither betrayed the people nor taken their needs for granted, pointing to the strategic ways residents’ requests were captured during town hall meetings preceding annual budget preparations. “Besides budgetary provisions, our administration had fulfilled the promises I made in 2022 during electioneering campaigns, looking at the quantum of projects he had executed across the council areas,” he said.See more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google He was emphatic in his assertion of fidelity to his mandate. “Go and check the records; I didn’t betray the people’s trust in the last four years. When I made promises, I would fulfil them. I did everything I promised. I am making some promises before you now, which I believe I will fulfil as long as I remain the governor of this state. “One thing I can say is that we are together on this journey to make Ekiti great. I want to assure you that all your requests that will make lives better for you shall be done through direct response from the state or partnership. He said the 235 kilometres of roads were expected to be covered under the third phase of RAAMP, scheduled to commence after the rainy season. The governor also lamented the burden of perennial flooding and gully erosion in Efon, Aramoko and Ado Ekiti, saying his government had understudied the erosion occurrences affecting the state and was now on the verge of mapping out a strategy to tackle the problem head-on. On healthcare, Oyebanji promised to improve medical facilities at the primary healthcare level, disclosing that his government had renovated a total of 110 health centres to boost quality medicare at the grassroots, with a pledge to undertake more to reduce mortality and morbidity indices among the populace. The governor also expressed joy over the reduction in the level of security threats in the state, appreciating traditional rulers for taking charge of security situations through intelligence gathering and the vigilance of their subjects in responding promptly to threats and suspicions in their domains. Oyebanji’s emergence as governor in October 2022 followed one of Ekiti’s most closely watched governorship elections, in which he defeated the PDP’s Bisi Kolawole in a contest that was regarded as a significant test of the APC’s popularity in the South-West ahead of the 2023 general elections. His re-election in June 2026, in which he ran largely unopposed in any meaningful sense, cemented his position as one of the more secure APC governors in the region, giving him a stronger platform from which to pursue his second-term agenda.   Abiodun Nejo
