The Indian Air Force chief has highlighted the ongoing shortage of fighter aircraft within the organization. The current fleet consists of 29 fighter squadrons, much lower than the authorized strength. Efforts are underway to expedite the production of the Tejas Mark-1A and finalize the 114-aircraft Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft deal. Additionally, the Air Force is considering procuring fifth-generation fighters if domestic production experiences delays.
