Ibangon natin ang Pilipinas!
The impeachment trial of a vice president is a first in our country’s history. Like many concerned Filipinos, I intently watch the impeachment trial proceedings and am shocked to see the alleged staggering wealth of VP Sara that heretofore were just rumors and talked about.
The debate on the threshold of senator-judges who can vote on the impeachment trial was, thankfully, settled expeditiously by the Supreme Court. Previously, the distinguished ex-Chief Justices Davide, Panganiban and Puno asserted that senators in prison, hiding or abroad, not present during the impeachment trial, are not entitled/qualified to vote.
Rightly so. Since the criminal charges they face are rooted on moral grounds, how then can they make credible, just, fair, morally-right decisions? They’ve lost the moral right to vote in this historic impeachment trial that surely will heavily impact the path our beloved country will tread…politically, morally, economically.
Additionally, not being present during the hearings, how can they analyze evidences presented and assess witnesses’ credibility?
This impeachment trial is a stern warning to politicians and government officials: public funds are NOT private funds. Public office is NOT a tool for abuse and enrichment. That graft and corruption must NEVER be the norm. Filipinos closely monitor our senator-judges, expecting them to vote solely for Truth, Justice, Accountability to our flag and people. To get back and give to the people what belongs to them.
Our beloved country lags behind. Our people have suffered so much for so long. Let our actions, decisions, visions be geared for a truly peaceful, dynamic, prosperous Philippines.
Peace, good health, safety, abundance to us all!
