Galatasaray announced last week that it had parted ways with Mauro Icardi. As rumors of a farewell ceremony circulated behind the scenes, it was claimed that Icardi was quite upset with the management—both because of the way his departure was handled and the offer he had received.
FAREWELLThe Yellow-and-Red club bid farewell to the Argentine striker—whose contract was not renewed—with an emotional message, while Icardi brought his Galatasaray career to a close as the club’s all-time leading foreign goalscorer.
HE DID NOT RESPOND TO GALATASARAYThe management, which contacted Icardi regarding the preseason match against Rennes to be played at Rams Park on August 2, proposed, “Let’s organize a farewell event for you.” However, it has been reported that Icardi has not yet responded to this offer, either positively or negatively.

It has been reported that the star soccer player told those close to him, “I didn’t deserve what was done to me. I’m very upset with the president and the coach.”
GALATASARAY PERFORMANCEThe Argentine star scored 77 goals and recorded 25 assists in 134 matches for Galatasaray. With this goal tally, Icardi surpassed Gheorghe Hagi to become the highest-scoring foreign player in the history of the yellow-and-red club.
The experienced striker scored the most goals against Beşiktaş, Alanyaspor, Antalyaspor, and İstanbulspor. Icardi, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022, was signed permanently after his first season. The Yellow-and-Reds paid PSG 10 million euros for the Argentine player’s transfer rights. Icardi became a free agent when his contract expired on July 1, 2026.
