IIT Kanpur announces 5-week online certificate course on Python, AI, ML

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) will be conducting a five-week online certification programme on Python for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) from December 14, 2026, to January 15, 2027.

The programme will be held online through Zoom and is aimed at students, scholars, faculty members, industry professionals and research and development (R&D) staff looking to gain hands-on exposure to AI and machine learning technologies. The programme is being coordinated by Professor Aditya K Jagannatham, Professor and Arun Kumar Chair at IIT Kanpur.

According to the programme details, participants will work on Python projects using practical, real-world datasets. The course will cover a range of programming and machine learning packages, including NumPy, Linalg, Matplotlib, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow and Keras.

The programme is designed to provide exposure to the implementation of algorithms and software used in AI, machine learning, neural networks and deep learning. It will also include problem-solving sessions aimed at helping participants prepare for tests and job interviews.

The programme is open to students across several disciplines and levels of study. The target audience includes BTech, BE, BSc, BBA and BCA students, as well as MTech, ME, MSc, MBA and MCA students. PhD scholars pursuing research can also participate.

Faculty members from engineering, science and management disciplines, along with professionals working in industry and R&D organisations, are also eligible for the programme.

The programme focuses on strengthening Python programming skills and applying them to emerging AI and ML technologies. IIT Kanpur says participants will learn programming techniques, work with practical datasets and explore different Python packages for projects and applications.

The course also highlights the use of Python and related packages for establishing virtual laboratories and providing project guidance.REGISTRATION DEADLINES

IIT Kanpur has announced multiple registration windows for the certification programme.

The golden registration deadline is October 4, 2026, followed by flash registration on October 25 and early-bird registration on November 8.
