Improve educational outcomes in Andhra schools, HRD Minister Lokesh tells Collectors

HRD Minister Nara Lokesh on Friday directed the District Collectors to take focused measures to improve educational outcomes and strengthen the overall quality of school education.

Speaking at the Collectors’ Conference in Amaravati, Mr. Lokesh called for a clear action plan to ensure that schools achieve 100% results, and stressed the need to further improve the pass percentage in the Board examinations.

Mr. Lokesh also emphasised the importance of ensuring that school buildings were structurally sound and that construction works were carried out to high quality standards. He directed officials to give priority to the safety and quality of educational infrastructure.

Highlighting the government’s focus on skill development and employability, the Minister said ITIs and polytechnic colleges were being linked with various industries so that students could acquire skills aligned with industry requirements. Through the Naipunya web portal, the government was also making employment opportunities and skill-development tools accessible to young people, he said.

The Minister said the Education Department was expanding its focus beyond conventional literacy to include digital and financial literacy, with the objective of equipping students and young people with skills relevant to everyday life and changing economy.

Mr. Lokesh further said students were being trained to respond appropriately during natural disasters, including learning precautionary measures and techniques for self-protection. Such training, he said, would help build awareness and preparedness among students.
