Indian sailor spots a ship in North Atlantic ocean, realises his father is on board

Two ships, two different journeys and one extraordinary coincidence brought a father and son together in the middle of the ocean.

Rusheel Saran was sailing north when he noticed a large vessel approaching from the opposite direction. He checked its details and was stunned to discover that his father Raviraj was aboard.

A glimpse of the chance encounter was shared on Instagram by Rusheel, capturing the two ships as they crossed paths in the vast North Atlantic Ocean. There was no meeting scheduled and no plans to see each other. Their ships were simply travelling in opposite directions when their routes happened to intersect.

The coincidence was even more special because both men chose life at sea.

In the caption accompanying the video, he wrote, “A one in a billion chance brought my Papa and me, two generations of sailors, together in the middle of the ocean. Two ships, two journeys, and one unforgettable moment.”

The words captured what made the meeting so unusual. Father and son could have been on completely different routes, in different parts of the world, yet happened to pass each other at sea.

The video also showed the personal side of a profession in which long periods away from family are common.

Instead of meeting at home or during a planned visit, the father and son got a few precious moments together while their ships continued on their respective journeys.
