TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of Indonesia’s Government Communications Agency (Bakom), Syahganda Nainggolan, is planning to establish a special team to study the impact of algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI), which are said to frequently distort President Prabowo Subianto's messages and ideas to the public.

"The biggest challenge in communication is algorithms, AI, and so on. So we will also address that," Syahganda said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, October 2, 2026.

Prabowo's ideas—which he said are fundamentally constitutional—are often distorted before the public can fully digest them. "It is in my opinion that the president's ideas and thoughts are often distorted by the power of AI," he said.

According to Syahganda, future narrative battles will be dominated by AI, which Bakom is planning to address to avoid disruption in the communications between the government and the people.

Syahganda emphasized that Bakom will focus on implementing President Prabowo's directive to leverage government communication to bolster national unity. To achieve this, Syahganda directed his staff to implement the president's instructions tactically.

The Government Communications Agency is committed to ensuring that all messages carrying key ideas from the head of state and the spirit of development are conveyed transparently and inclusively to reach all levels of Indonesian society without exception.

He also underscored the essential task of this new agency to safeguard the nation's narrative and civilization. This mission will be achieved through intensive dialogue between the government and the press, to create educative public discourse that strengthens national unity.
