International Left Adopts Lula's Digital Strategist's 'Playbook' and Uses 'L' as Anti-Far-Right Symbol - Folha de S.Paulo
Lula's reelection as Brazil's president on Sunday (25) gave new momentum to the international left, which has begun copying the "L" gesture and the digital strategy of Congressman André Janones, one of the main figures behind the Workers' Party victory.
The main method being adopted involves WhatsApp groups such as "Exército do Lula" ("Lula's Army"), which attracted more than 10 million people in the run-up to the runoff election.
Similar initiatives have emerged in France in support of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a candidate in the April election, and in Argentina, where the "Peronist Army" already has more than 40,000 members and opposes Javier Milei.
In the United States, activists are applying the method to strengthen the Democratic Party in next month's midterm elections.
At a rally in Madrid, former Barcelona Mayor Ada Colau urged: "Let's all raise our arms with Lula's 'L'." Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said he would draw inspiration from the victory to stop the right in next month's elections, adding: "If Brazil did it, Spain can too."
He invited Janones to collaborate on his campaign, and the congressman's team did not confirm whether the invitation had been accepted. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also invited him for a working visit.
Observación sobre el inglés: En el segundo titular, "Lula's Digital Strategist's 'Playbook'" es gramaticalmente correcto, pero la acumulación de dos genitivos sajones resulta poco elegante. Para publicación, preferiría "International Left Adopts Playbook of Lula's Digital Strategist, Uses 'L' as Anti-Far-Right Symbol". Mantiene el significado y mejora la fluidez.
