Apple announced its first foldable iPhone model, the iPhone Duo, as well as its new high-end phones, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. While the phones’ designs are quite similar to the previous generation, they stand out primarily due to improvements in the processor, camera, battery, and cooling systems.
The most significant hardware innovation in the series is the A20 Pro processor. According to Apple, the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers 40 percent higher sustained performance compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The new models also feature an enhanced vapor chamber cooling system designed to help the processor operate more efficiently under prolonged heavy loads.
Apple has made a significant change to the camera system of the iPhone 18 Pro series by adding manual aperture control. However, this feature is only available on the 48-megapixel Fusion main camera. In other words, there is no manual aperture control on the telephoto or ultra-wide-angle cameras.
Users will be able to open the aperture up to f/1.8. This is intended to deliver better results, especially in low light, and create a more pronounced background blur in photos. The feature will also enhance low-light performance during video recording.
Apple also introduced a new feature called Reference Image. This system creates a digital signature to help verify the authenticity of photos taken with the iPhone 18 Pro. Photos can then be compared in the Photos app using a digital negative-like structure to check whether any alterations have been made to the image.
In the iPhone 18 Pro series, the Dynamic Island has also been made smaller compared to the previous generation. Apple managed to reduce the space these components occupy at the top of the screen while preserving the sensors required for Face ID.
Dynamic Island has also been enhanced to display three Live Activities simultaneously. This allows users to follow live sports events, transit information, or other activities all at once.
Apple states that the iPhone 18 Pro family features the longest battery life of any iPhone models to date. According to the company’s data, the iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 36 hours of usage, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max offers up to 45 hours. While there are no major design changes, a new burgundy color option is being added to the series. Following last year’s orange color option, Apple continues to offer different color alternatives for its Pro models.
The starting price for the iPhone 18 Pro in Turkey is 137,999 TL, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at 149,999 TL. Both models are launching at higher prices compared to the previous generation. Apple will begin accepting pre-orders for these two models on September 12.
The iPhone 18 Pro series is positioned as a high-end option in Apple’s lineup this year for users who prefer the classic iPhone design. The iPhone Duo, which the company unveiled at the same event, is entering the foldable phone market with a very different form factor.
