iPhone 20 Pro display details leak, hint at quad-curved design and tiny punch-hole

The dust from the iPhone 18 Pro series launch is yet to settle, as it's still only September, but details about the upcoming iPhones have already started surfacing online. It's said to be the iPhone 20.

There are several reasons why it might be called the 20 and not the 19. Some say next year will mark the 20th anniversary of Apple's first smartphone launch, as the first iPhone debuted in June 2007. Others say Apple may repeat history, just like it skipped the iPhone 9 and launched the iPhone X directly in 2017.

The latest leak gives us a closer look at what Apple could be planning for the display. Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has shared early details of the screens being tested for the iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max.

According to the tipster, the iPhone 20 Pro could feature a 6.41-inch display with a resolution of 2686 x 1236 pixels. The iPhone 20 Pro Max, meanwhile, is said to be testing a larger 6.96-inch screen with a resolution of 2912 x 1340 pixels.

For comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch screen. If the leaked sizes make it to the final devices, both 2027 Pro models could get slightly bigger displays.

But the screen size is only one part of the story. Digital Chat Station also claims that Apple is testing a borderless design, with glass curving on all four sides of the display. This could give the phones a more immersive, almost all-screen look, with the curves blending into the edges.

The tipster also mentions a tiny punch-hole on the front. This could make the Dynamic Island much smaller than it is on current iPhones. However, it is not clear from the leak whether Apple plans to remove the Dynamic Island completely or retain some of its functionality in a smaller area.

There have also been reports suggesting that Apple is exploring a thinner design, potentially bringing the anniversary iPhones closer to the slim profile of the iPhone Air. Apple has not officially confirmed the iPhone 20 name or any details about its 2027 iPhone lineup. However, Omdia last year claimed that Apple will split its launches into two windows: the standard iPhone 20 and iPhone 18e in the first half of 2027, followed by the iPhone 20 Air, Pro, Pro Max and a second-generation foldable in the second half, likely around Apple's usual September event. If Omdia’s prediction turned out to be true, then that would be a notable break from the traditional fall-only schedule.
