IPS officers Kanthi Rana Tata, Vishal Gunni get postings after revocation of suspension

The State government on Sunday transferred and posted several IPS officers, including 2004-batch officer Kanthi Rana Tata and 2005-batch officer Vishal Gunni, who were suspended in connection with the actress Kadambari Jethwani case. The rejig also included the appointment of new Superintendents of Police (SPs) for three districts.

The government had recently revoked the suspension of Mr. Tata, who was Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada, and Mr. Gunni, who was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Vijayawada. They had faced allegations of illegally confining and harassing Ms. Jethwani and her family in connection with a case. Both officers had been awaiting postings after their suspension was revoked.

On Sunday evening, the government issued orders posting Mr. Tata as Inspector General of Police, Directorate of Traffic Management and Road Safety. Mr. Gunni was posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Training, in the existing vacancy and given full additional charge as Director of the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy (APPA) until further orders.

Meanwhile, 2005-batch officer C.M. Thrivikram Varma, who was serving as Director General of the Special Protection Force, was transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police and Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, in the existing vacancy.

Anti-Corruption Bureau Director R. Jayalakshmi was transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, CID Cyber Crimes. AP Special Police Battalions IG B. Raja Kumari was transferred and posted as IG, Railways, in the existing vacancy and given full additional charge as IG, CID Women Safety, until further orders.

Babujee Attada, DIG, Greyhounds, was transferred and posted as DIG, Technical Services, in the existing vacancy and given full additional charge as DIG, Greyhounds.

The government also appointed SPs for three new districts. Pankaj Kumar Meena, OSD, Polavaram, was transferred and posted as SP, Markapuram district, in the existing vacancy. Jagadeesh Adahalli was transferred and posted as SP, Palnadu district, while K. Chakravathi, SP, CID, was transferred and posted as SP, Polavaram district.
