An Iranian diplomatic delegation has been sent to Qatar to continue negotiations on a US proposal, amid speculation that Washington may resume attacks on Iran after the US midterm elections.

US Vice President JD Vance reportedly sent a letter to the Iranian side through Qatar, which serves as a mediator, proposing to restart negotiations between Washington and Tehran. These moves are apparently intended to avert a fresh round of US attacks.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Al Jazeera on Saturday that his aide was in Qatar to continue negotiations. He was quoted as saying, "Mediators have presented proposals concerning the nuclear dossier, which we are currently reviewing."

Iran's state-run news agency reported on Saturday that the country's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei met senior military commanders and ordered them to respond immediately without being constrained by geographical boundaries if the US or Israel were to launch attacks.

Asked by reporters about the possibility of new strikes on Iran, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said President Donald Trump has not made a decision.

Rubio said, "The president prefers not to do it that way," and went on to say that Trump would "prefer to solve it diplomatically, but I think what the president expresses to you is incredible confidence that if we needed to do something militarily, we would have the ability to do it."
