Iran-Gulf states meeting reportedly postponed

Iranian state-run media say a foreign ministers' meeting Tehran planned to hold with other Gulf states has been postponed.

The media on Sunday quoted officials familiar with the matter as saying Oman and Iran made the decision following a request from multiple Gulf states.

The meeting was scheduled to take place in Oman on Monday.

Iran's foreign ministry said on Friday that Iran would brief other Gulf nations on Tehran's negotiations with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz at the meeting.

A report carried by Iran's Tasnim News Agency on Saturday quoted an informed source as saying Tehran and Oman reached a "final agreement" about specific details on new entry and exit routes for the strait late last month.

The source added that the agreement will be announced soon in the presence of foreign ministers from Gulf nations.

US President Donald Trump was asked about the expected meeting when he was speaking to reporters in Ireland on Sunday. He said he did not care and that it was "up to them."

The situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains tense.

Media in Iran reported that an Iranian commercial ship came under attack near Qeshm Island in the vital waterway on Sunday, leaving one person dead and four others wounded.

They said it remains unclear where the strike originated.
