Istanbul Airport broke its all-time daily records for both flights and passengers on August 16, according to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

The airport handled 1,739 flights and 290,287 passengers in a single day, marking the highest daily figures ever recorded at an airport in Türkiye and across Europe, Uraloğlu said.

The minister highlighted the airport's growing importance in international aviation, pointing to its capacity, infrastructure and service standards.

"Istanbul Airport is among the world's leading airports thanks to its capacity, strong infrastructure and quality of service," Uraloğlu said.

He added that the new records further demonstrated the airport's growing role as a major global transit hub.
