It’s election day in Quebec: What you need to know to vote
Voting day in the Quebec 2026 provincial election is upon us. (Gabriel Claveau/Radio-Canada)Social SharingIt's Oct. 5, which means Quebecers are heading to the polls today to determine who will lead the next government.
Polling stations will be open on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET. Your employer is supposed to give you at least four consecutive hours to vote on election day, with no reduction in pay or other penalty.
Voters should have received information by mail on where to vote, including a reminder card that was mailed in both official languages, following a provincial judge's order. The back of the reminder card also features the names of the candidates running in your riding.
You can also find your polling station by entering your address on Élections Québec's website.
As part of Élections Québec's aim to make it easier for people to get to the polls, the BIXI and àVélo bike-sharing services are offering free rides across the province from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET.
The last two general elections have seen about two-thirds voter turnout, with approximately 66 per cent of eligible voters casting ballots (66.15 per cent in 2022, and 66.45 per cent in 2018).
Ahead of this election day, just over a quarter (25.59 per cent) of electors voted at advance polls between Sept. 25 and Oct. 1.
CBC's live coverage of the election will begin Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. ET, and will continue until it's clear who will form Quebec's next provincial government.
The coverage will be available on CBC TV, CBC News Network and CBC Radio One. It will also be streamed on CBC Gem, CBC Listen, cbc.ca/quebec, YouTube and the CBC Quebec News streaming channel. ASL interpretation will be provided on the stream.
