Jakarta Set to Adjust Transjakarta Fares in 2027

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government will adjust fares for Transjakarta and Transjabodetabek on January 1, 2027, while expanding the list of free transit card beneficiaries from 15 to 21 categories.

"On January 1, we will expand the number of categories from 15 to 21. But honestly, I must say, on January 1, there will also be several fare adjustments for Transjakarta and Transjabodetabek," said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung during his remarks at the 2026 National Transportation Day event at the Jakarta provincial level in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Tuesday.

The expanded categories include companions for people with disabilities, job-seeking Jakarta residents, referred medical patients, students with disabilities not enrolled in the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) or Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU), fostered micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and disaster victims.

He noted that 93 percent of Jakarta's public transit network is currently integrated. To maximize its use, Pramono stressed that better transit management is essential.

"So, for the LRT, MRT, Transjakarta, Transjabodetabek, KRL, Mikrotrans, JakLingko, and so on, I've asked the Transportation Agency and related regional-owned enterprises (BUMDs) to improve their management over time," Pramono explained.

He also explained the reasoning behind announcing the fare adjustments well in advance. The early notice aims to ensure a smooth public information campaign.

However, his administration will carefully set the new rates so as not to overburden residents.

"What is clear is that in determining the fares, we will definitely consider the community's needs. So it won't be a burden on the public. And I'm confident that these fares, compared to those around Jakarta, remain the most affordable," he said.
