Jake Paul will fight French kickboxing star Cédric Doumbé Dec. 24 in Dubai - USA Today
Jake Paul has a date for his next fight. Now he has an opponent, too.
Paul will face Cédric Doumbé, a French combat fighting star, Dec. 24 in Dubai, according to Most Valuable Promotions, co-founded by Paul.
Doumbé, 34, is versatile combat sports fighter with multiple kickboxing world championships. He is 75-7-1 in kickboxing, 6-1 in MMA and 1-0 in boxing. Paul, 29, is 12-2 with seven knockouts as a pro boxer.
Paul and Doumbé will fight at the 200-pound cruiserweight division with 10-ounce gloves. The sanctioned pro bout is scheduled for eight rounds, according to MVP.
MVP announced the news by press release on Monday, Nov. 2.
Paul said in the release that Doumbé, "was calling me out two years ago after knocking some dude out in nine seconds. Well (Doumbé), now you get your chance.''
Paul will be fighting for the first time since Anthony Joshua broke Paul's jaw with a sixth-round knockout punch Dec. 19. "I'm rusty, my jaw is janky..." he said.
Paul was knocked down four times by Joshua and needed two surgeries to repair his jaw, according to Paul.
“Jake Paul calls himself the Problem Child, but he's never faced a problem like me,'' Doumbé said in the release. "...I'm going to finish the job Joshua started."
