Japan's government has issued a fresh warning to Japan Airlines following another transgression involving alcohol. Two cabin attendants were found to have been drinking within 12 hours of a flight, which had to be delayed.

The transport ministry has ordered the company to detail the measures it will take to prevent a recurrence by July 17.

The two cabin crew, including the chief attendant, consumed alcohol before a flight from Hiroshima to Tokyo in late May. It took off more than 40 minutes late.

JAL implements a pre-flight drinking ban based on the Civil Aeronautics Act.

The ministry also warned the company last year after an international flight was delayed because the captain had drunk alcohol.

JAL says it takes latest incident extremely seriously, adding that the chief attendant has been dismissed and the other attendant suspended. The firm's 37 board members have also had their allowances cut.
