JASC, AIDYO to stage protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru seeking reforms in KPSC recruitment process

The Job Aspirants Struggle Committee (JASC) and the All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) will stage a State-level protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Friday, seeking reforms in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) and greater transparency in its recruitment process.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the organisations alleged that irregularities, question paper leaks, manipulation of examination results and delays in recruitment processes had adversely affected the interests of job aspirants. They called for an independent and comprehensive inquiry into recruitments conducted over the past five to six years.
The organisations alleged that questions had been raised over the recruitment process in several examinations conducted by the KPSC, including those for PDO, Assistant Executive Engineer and KAS posts. They also referred to allegations of question paper leaks and irregularities in earlier recruitment processes.
JASC and AIDYO said that alleged corruption in the KPSC was not merely an issue concerning individual candidates but one that affected the future of a large number of young people seeking government employment.
The organisations also claimed that their earlier campaigns had contributed to action being taken against certain KPSC officials. They demanded that those found guilty of corruption or other irregularities be subjected to strict punishment in accordance with law.
Among their demands are an independent investigation into recruitments conducted during the past five to six years under the supervision of a serving or retired judge of the High Court or Supreme Court, and speedy trial of cases relating to alleged corruption in the KPSC.
They have also demanded that the recommendations of the P.C. Hota Committee on reforms in the KPSC be implemented and that the recruitment process be made more transparent and technology-driven.
The organisations have sought a non-political process for the appointment of the KPSC Chairman and members, with subject experts being considered for the positions. They have also demanded periodic transfer of personnel who have remained in the Commission for several years.
The protesters have further called for withholding recruitment responsibilities from the KPSC until measures are taken to address the alleged irregularities and strengthen public confidence in the Commission.
Issuing the statement on behalf of JASC and AIDYO, Bhavanishankar Gouda appealed to job aspirants from across Karnataka to participate in the protest at Freedom Park on Friday.
