Vice President JD Vance’s appeal for voters to give Republicans “another chance” has been widely derided online.

The VP’s pitch came after he was asked about the upcoming midterm elections on the All-In podcast this week.

A slew of polls show that voters have become frustrated with President Trump’s handling of the economy as well as his own performance as commander-in-chief, putting pressure on Republicans with less than two months to go.

“There’s a lot of good that’s been done, but there’s a lot of work left to do,” Vance insisted. “Don’t give power to the people who cause the problems that we’re fixing.

“Give us another chance, or give us another couple of years, to continue to work on the amazing things that we’ve been doing for the past two years,” he pleaded.

The appeal to voters was quickly mocked, with a storm of social media users, comedians and Democratic politicians highlighting the “give us another chance” phrase in particular.

“Vance to America: Republicans have failed but give us another chance,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wrote on X. “Jeffries to Vance: Get Lost.

“It’s over for MAGA extremism in November.”

Journalist Philip DeFranco referenced the infamous moment that Vance criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House early in the second Trump administration.

“JD Vance went from ‘HAVE YOU EVEN SAID “THANK YOU” ONCE?!” energy to ‘Guys...you've gotta give us another chance’ energy pretty damn quick,” DeFranco quipped.

Others, like writer and comedian Mike Drucker, were more blunt in their response to Vance’s remarks.

“No greater pitch than having complete governmental power for two years and then going “Okay, yes, we’ve f***** everything up, but give us more time!,” he wrote on X.

Influencer Hasan Piker was equally frank. “LMAO NO,” he commented under the video of Vance.

Even Vance’s predecessor, former Vice President Kamala Harris, responded with a cutting remark posted via her Gen-Z-focused X account, Headquarters.

“JD Vance begs for midterm votes,” a post uploaded to the account read.

The Oversight Democrats account on X took a swipe at the Trump administration’s record in its own response to Vance.

“Republicans couldn't deliver on lowering costs, draining the swamp, or releasing all the Epstein Files, so they went home early. Now their pitch is ‘give us another chance,’” the post read.

With the midterm elections looming, the president and his party have been forced to contend with increasingly grim polling - including an Ipsos survey that found 49 percent of respondents strongly disapprove of Trump’s handling of the presidency, compared to just 15 percent who strongly approve.

Fifty percent of respondents said that they strongly disapprove of the president’s handling of the economy, while 11 percent said they strongly approve.

The poll was conducted between September 11 and 14 and involved 1,143 participants.
