The Philippines now has four medals at the 2026 Asian Games as of Tuesday, September 22, with Jean Claude Saclag delivering the country’s first silver medal.

Saclag claimed silver in the men’s traditional -65kg final after falling to Tajikistan’s Otabek Rajabov.

Earlier in the day, the Philippine women’s kata team secured a bronze medal in karate after defeating Thailand in the bronze medal match.

In other sports, the Philippine men’s football team secured its first Asian Games win since 1958 after defeating Kuwait, 2-1.

Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3x3 team also opened its campaign with victories over Mongolia and Macau.

Olympic boxer Aira Villegas absorbed a first round exit, while Olympic swimmer Kayla Sanchez finished 4th in the women's 100m freestyle.

On Wednesday, both the men’s and women’s 3x3 teams will wrap up their respective group-stage campaigns as they seek to advance to the next round.

Meanwhile, Olympian Sam Catantan will make her Asian Games debut in the women’s foil, while the Philippine gymnastics teams will compete in the men’s and women’s team finals.
