Jeonbuk warns about strong Johor featuring 12 Brazilian and Spanish players - Chosunbiz

Only 12 players from Brazil and Spain?

Jeonbuk faces Johor Darul Ta'zim FC in the AFC Champions League Elite League phase 4 round at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 3rd. Johor, a prestigious Malaysian club, sit fourth with an undefeated run of two wins and one draw, including a 2-0 win over Pohang. Jeonbuk (1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss) is down in 10th.

The official press conference was held at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 2nd, a day before the showdown. Chung Jung-yong and Motta spoke on behalf of Jeonbuk.

Johor, a prestigious Malaysian team, has a unique player composition. Head coach Francisco Muñoz is from Spain. In addition, as many as 12 players are from Brazil and Spain. The remaining players form a multinational squad from Iran, Portugal, Croatia, Argentina, Australia and others. There are 19 native Malaysian players.

Motta's expression was solemn ahead of the showdown. Motta scored the opener in the away match in Beijing but could not smile at the team's 2-2 draw. Motta said, "I prepared well yesterday and today. Of course we respect the opponent. We prepared for the match with earnest hearts. Personally, I have not shown good form in the league. If the coach gives me a chance, I will repay with a good performance tomorrow."

How does he assess Johor's strength? Motta warned, "I know Johor are at a high level. I am friends with Yazuku César, who plays at Johor. Yazuku will unfortunately not be able to play this match. I always communicate with Yazuku and watch the Malaysian league. The level is high. We must also prepare thoroughly."

Did he get information about Johor through Brazilian friends? Motta laughed and said, "I looked up Johor on social media. I called Yazuku, who played with me in Anyang last year. That friend said he wanted to go to Korea. He did not talk about the match."
