Jhang Desert Rally to showcase Thal culture

  The district administration is set to organise the first Jhang Desert Rally and a three-day cultural festival to promote tourism and highlight the rich local culture, traditions and heritage. Jhang Deputy Commissioner Babar Sahib Din announced at a news conference at the starting point of the rally that it would feature several categories, including Women's, stock and veterans, besides bike racing and other competitive activities. The DC said Jhang had a unique identity owing to its vast desert areas, including around 6,000 square kilometres of the Thal region, the confluence of the Chenab and Jhelum rivers, historical heritage, folk traditions and distinctive local culture. He said the district administration aimed to showcase the unique features of Jhang on a major platform and promote the district as an emerging tourist destination.
