Jim Carrey marries Korean-descendant artist Min Ah, starts third marriage - CHOSUNBIZ - Chosunbiz
Hollywood actor Jim Carrey (64) secretly married his 32-year-younger partner Min Ah and created his third household, drawing attention.
On the 30th (local time), according to foreign media reports including People, a spokesperson for Jim Carrey officially confirmed that Jim Carrey married his long-time partner Min Ah. The two recently held a small wedding in Los Angeles (LA), United States, and are said to have exchanged wedding vows.
Min Ah is believed to be of Korean descent and is also called "Min-ji". She is known as an actress and artist.
This marriage comes about seven months after the two revealed they were an official couple on a red carpet at an awards ceremony. Earlier, Jim Carrey and Min Ah drew attention when they attended the 51st CΓ©sar Awards in Paris, France, last February accompanied by daughter Jane and grandson Jackson.
When Jim Carrey received a lifetime achievement award, he, speaking in French during his acceptance remarks, boldly confessed his affection toward Min Ah, saying "I thank my sublime companion Min Ah. I love you, Min Ah," eliciting explosive applause. The two had quietly nurtured their relationship for years since images captured them leaving a charity comedy show in Los Angeles together in February 2022.
With this, Jim Carrey has seen his third marital union. Jim Carrey was married to his first wife, Melissa Womer, from 1987 to 1995, and they had a daughter, Jane. He then remarried actress Lauren Holly, who co-starred with him in the 1996 film Dumb and Dumber, but they divorced after about a year.
Known for fiercely guarding his private life, Jim Carrey said in a 2022 interview that "I really like a quiet life, and I enjoy painting on canvas and living a spiritual life," mentioning a temporary retirement, but he is entering the second act of his life by starting a new family with artist Min Ah, who is 32 years his junior.
However, there is a dark shadow in his romantic history.
Jim Carrey was also involved in a legal battle with the family of a former partner who died by suicide.
Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend Katrina White left a note in October 2015 saying "I'm having a hard time, I broke up with Jim Carrey four days ago" and sadly died.
And in 2018, according to foreign media including the Daily Mail, Katrina White's mother, whose daughter died in 2015, filed a lawsuit alleging that Jim Carrey aided and abetted the death, provided drugs, transmitted sexually transmitted diseases and did not return funeral expenses.
In response, Jim Carrey countersued, saying that Bridget Sweeney, who is only the biological mother, was demanding money and staging a "shameless show." Thus, the two sides engaged in sharp conflict over Katrina White's death.
Born in 1962 and 64 this year, Jim Carrey is a legendary Hollywood actor who produced era-defining masterpieces such as Mask, Dumb and Dumber, The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine.
