The Cincinnati Bengals and star quarterback Joe Burrow are plenty motivated to start the season hot and prove themselves contenders.

The Cincinnati Bengals and star quarterback Joe Burrow are plenty motivated to start the season hot and prove themselves contenders.

But the Tampa Bay Buccaneers seem content with providing a little extra motivation, too.

Speaking with reporters before the Week 1 showdown with the Bengals, Buccaneers defender Zyon McCollum made it clear he's looking forward to what should be an aggressive Burrow-led passing attack.

"They want to get their season started off right and they are looking to get into a rhythm early so the ball is guaranteed to go into the air and a ball in the air belongs to us," McCollum said. That’s the mentality we have…We know that we are going to get tested early and this is an incredible opportunity for us and there will be no better feeling than when you take away three, four interceptions."

Disclaimer: These were hopeful what if sort of comments from the Bucs defender, not guaranteeing they pick off Burrow a ton. They’re looking forward to the challenge of facing an elite passing attack.

Alas, this string of comments got clipped and went viral on social media, which means it probably made it into the Bengals’ locker room, too. Pro athletes, after all, are known for using every little thing possible as motivation.

Again, not that the Bengals needed more. But these pretty mild comments, all things considered, will probably get a mention here or there between now and Monday morning.
