Kanye West and John Legend formed a bond that dates back decades. However, because of the Chicago rapper's controversies, a chasm opened between them.

But now, in a new interview with The Complex, Legend said he's open to burying the hatchet, but Ye hasn't reached out.

"He's not reached out to me. So I don't want to act like I've refused to meet up with him or talk with him."

He shared, "But if we did talk, it wouldn't be a public reunion. It would be man-to-man, like a private conversation."

In addition, the All of Me hitmaker said West's remarks did not cause him personal resentment.

"I don't have a hard time forgiving anybody personally for any slight — and, you know, he's said a few stray comments about me. But he hasn't done much to harm me, or with the intent to harm me at all."

However, Ye remarks about Black and especially the Jewish community, Legend said, were the cause of the problem.

"I feel like what he's done to society has been really harmful. What he said about entire communities has been really harmful. The Black community, the Jewish community, those things have been really harmful."

That is why Legend added that the apology in The Wall Street Journal was not enough.

"But I think as a cultural figure and as a person who has impact on the world, the things he said and did were so violently wrong that it requires more than a statement in The Wall Street Journal," Legend concluded.
