Kadapa acquires mobile forensic vehicle to enhance crime investigation

Kadapa district police have acquired a mobile forensic vehicle, which is expected to enable scientific collection of evidence from crime scenes and also offer advanced technology to strengthen crime investigation and evidence-based policing.

Sanctioned through the Andhra Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory (APFSL), the vehicle is equipped with high-intensity lights, preliminary blood testing and collection kits, DNA sample collection kits, narcotics and explosive screening kits and a stereo microscope for identifying and examining trace evidence.

It also has a DSLR camera, CCTV/dashboard camera, digital investigation kit, forensic imager, pen drives, memory cards and SSD storage, besides facilities for the acquisition and imaging of digital devices.

“These facilities will enable the investigating officials and forensic personnel to systematically document crime scenes and preserve both the physical and the digital evidence,” said Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke after inspecting the features of the vehicle.
