A ‘Karnataka Dhamma Jana Jagruthi Yatra’ will be held in Yadgir on Monday (October 5) as part of the mega Buddhist Dhamma Deeksha ceremony scheduled to take place at the historical Sannati (Kanaganahalli) in Chittapur taluk of Kalaburagi district on November 1, Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) district convener Mareppa Chatterkar has said.
Addressing a press conference in Yadgir on Saturday (October 3), Mr. Chatterkar said the rally would start from Mailapur Base at 7 p.m. and pass through Chakrakatta, Gandhi Chowk, and Kanakanagar before culminating at Ambedkar Nagar. A public meeting will subsequently be held at Ambedkar Chowk to raise awareness about Buddhism and discuss the context and significance behind Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s conversion to the faith. Zen Monk Dr. Shaku Bodhidhamma is scheduled to attend the public gathering.

He added that around five lakh devotees (upasakas and upasikas) are expected to participate in the upcoming Dhamma Deeksha event at Sannati.
Mr. Chatterkar urged Ambedkarites, followers of Buddhism, Bhikkhu Sanghas, social and political leaders, and various Bahujan organizations to participate in large numbers and ensure the success of the rally.
