The Karnataka government has issued an order increasing fees for postgraduate (PG) courses in government first-grade colleges by 10% for the academic year 2027-28.

Accordingly, the fee for MSc courses in Computer Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Information Science, excluding university fees, has been fixed at ₹8,720. The fee for the MCA course has been fixed at ₹11,720.

However, the annual fee of ₹21,000 fixed for the MBA course in the academic year 2025-26 will continue for the academic years 2026-27 and 2027-28.

The Commissioner of the Department had submitted a proposal to the government seeking a 10% increase in fees for various PG courses offered in government first-grade colleges from 2026-27 onwards. However, since the admission process for PG courses had already begun in government and aided colleges, the fee revision could not be implemented immediately. Colleges have been admitting students based on the previous year’s fee structure.

According to department data, a total of 610 students have so far been admitted to 168 postgraduate courses, and the admission process is still under way.

The government has stated that no additional grants shall be sought for postgraduate courses, including MBA and MCA programmes offered in government first-grade colleges, or for any related activities.
