Karnataka has emerged as the second-highest performing State in the country in both investment and employment generation under the Centre’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles, said Minister for Sugar and Textiles Rudrappa Lamani.
According to information provided by the Union Ministry of Textiles in the Lok Sabha, six companies in the State have invested ₹1,515.99 crore under the PLI Scheme for Textiles and generated 5,611 jobs as of March 31, 2026.
The State ranks second nationally on both these parameters, the Minister stated in a release.
Gujarat stood first with a total investment of ₹1,903.38 crore.
Building on this performance, the State government will launch a special facilitation campaign to ensure that more eligible textile and apparel companies in the State take advantage of the revised PLI guidelines announced by the Centre.
“The revised PLI framework opens the door to a wider set of companies, including mid-sized manufacturers. We will proactively support eligible industries so that Karnataka can capture a larger share of the next phase of textile investment,” Mr. Lamani said.
Under the revised framework, the Union Ministry of Textiles has reduced the minimum turnover threshold under the second category of the scheme from ₹200 crore to ₹100 crore, the Minister pointed out. For companies approved in the fourth round, the scheme period has also been extended up to the financial year 2033-34.
The initiative will complement the recently launched Karnataka Textile & Apparel Policy 2026-31, which provides for an outlay of ₹4,000 crore and targets ₹20,000 crore in investment and five lakh employment opportunities over five years.
Eligible manufacturers of Man-Made Fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF fabrics and technical textile products can submit applications between November 1 and December 31, through the Union government’s official PLI portal pli.texmin.gov.in.
