Karnataka youth achieves impressive feat in Shanghai World Skills Competition

Nine candidates from Karnataka have secured international honours in the 48th World Skills Competition held in Shanghai, China.

A contingent of 16 candidates represented Karnataka in the Team India contingent. They secured one silver medal, with the prestigious ‘Best of Nation’ trophy for India, and eight Medallions of Excellence (MoE) across four advanced engineering and industrial skills.

Smriti Nambiar won the ‘Best of Nation’ award for India along with the silver medal in the Bakery category of the competition.

The MoE awards were received by Pawan B.S. for Additive Manufacturing; Suhan Mascarenhas and Mallinath in the Industry 4.0 category; Jayant K. and Deepu M.S. for Mechatronics; Dhanusha M.G. for Electrical Installations; and Abhishek Somanna Sighnalli and Vinay M.H. for Robot Systems Integration.

Congratulating the winners, Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, said, “By competing from Karnataka on this global platform, they have upheld the skills, talent and dedication of the youth of the State through their achievements.”
